Ideas for prayer
1. Be creative. Instead of "help John" go for "use John's ability to program to build the Kingdom" or "help Jennifer get into medical school because I think she'd be a really God-glorifying doctor." It takes brainpower, but it's worth it. It also brings your prayer alive. You will get tons of ideas of want to call or email people!
2. Pray ambitiously. In faith, pray things into existence.
3. Make it God-centered. Avoid 'shopping lists'. Don't make it about yourself.
4. Take what's on your mind to God.
5. Use prayer to expand your vision. Pray about big, faraway things. Ask God to help you to care about important things if you don't.
6. Remember people before God. E.g., after getting off the phone with Andy, thank God for him and pray about what you and Andy just talked about. E.g. #2, look at photos of people prayerfully.
7. Ask God where you should be heading in life whatever your age. Ask him why he created you. Ask him how he can best use you, and plan accordingly.
8. Pray especiallyfor the people (1) not many other people are praying for (e.g., someone in a home, or a child who doesn't have a praying grandmother, or anyone 'on the fringe') and whom (2) God has entrusted especially to you (e.g., someone you're discipling).
9. Pray for breakthroughs in the neediest parts of the world. When praying in groups, don't spend *too* much time praying for the frail health of the elderly. Expand your vision and pray for, e.g., the million people living in Garbage City, Cairo.
10. Pray (1) throughout the day, all the time, (2) for set-aside dedicated times, (3) in vision-filled groups, on a regular basis.
