An Ode to my Dad on his Birthday
It's my dad's birthday today (June 19, 2006). Ted wrote a poem for him in iambic pentameter, so I thought I'd put it up here, along with two recent pictures of my dear father. :)

"Who's that?" "He was my father while on earth."
"Oh yes, we did have fathers, didn't we.
My memories of that are only vague."
"It isn't vague for me." "Oh isn't it?
But still, you must admit, it's strange the way Our permanent existence should begin As mortal beings closely interlinked.
We didn't realize how short-lived that was."
"Our father taught us we should not forget Our great, eternal Father and true home -How that was just the preparation phase.
Each day of his existence taught us that.
And those of us assigned to him on earth Eventually knew it for ourselves."
